The Lab Verdict

Executive Summary

76

/100

The Verdict:

The Halo PRO Trailer Lift is a specialized 7,500-lb four-post built to raise and store trailers rather than cars — handy for boat, utility, or enclosed trailers you want off the ground and out of the way. It uses Halo’s heavy-duty PRO construction. If you’re lifting vehicles instead of trailers, the car-oriented HL9K-PRO is the one to compare.

  • Who Should Buy It:
  • Homeowners wanting to double their garage parking capacity
  • Car collectors who need to stack vehicles for storage
  • DIY enthusiasts who perform oil changes and basic maintenance
  • Anyone who wants the safest, easiest-to-use lift type
  • Who Should Skip It:
  • Users who need to do wheel-off suspension work (unless you buy bridge jacks)
  • Anyone without at least 4″ of cured concrete
  • ⚠️ Lab Note:
While 4-post lifts are free-standing, we recommend anchoring to the floor for maximum stability, especially in seismic zones.

Engineering Analysis

The “Deep Dive”

Hydraulics & Rise Time

A four-post power unit raises both runways together on equalized cables, sized and spaced for trailer frames.

Safety Lock System

The PRO safety system and multiple mechanical lock positions hold the runways on steel stops for secure trailer storage.

Structural Integrity

Specialized PRO four-post trailer lift rated 7,500 lb, built to raise and store trailers with Halo’s heavy-duty PRO construction.

The "Squeeze" Factor

This is the most critical section for the CLL-HL-002.

DRIVE-THROUGH WIDTH 125.00"

Let's do the math on a real-world scenario: 2023 Chevrolet Corvette.

Corvette Width (Mirrors Out): ~84"
Clearance: 20.5" per side
The Result:

It fits comfortably with plenty of clearance on each side.

Fit & setup

Freestanding on flat concrete; confirm your trailer’s footprint and ceiling height. See our best 4-post lifts guide.

The Lab Take:

Both lifts are in a similar category. Your decision should come down to specific features that matter most for your use case.

Year 1 Maintenance Schedule

Owning a lift is like owning a car. You can’t just install it and ignore it.

Weekly

Wipe down the inside of the columns. Dust mixed with grease turns into a grinding paste that wears out your slider blocks. Check for debris around the runways and base plates.

Monthly

Check Cable Tension. You will hear the locks “clicking” as the lift goes up. If one corner clicks later than the others, that cable is loose. Tighten the nut on top of that specific column to level it out. Inspect the safety locks for proper engagement.

Yearly

Inspect the hydraulic hoses for dry rot or cracks. Grease the pulleys (sheaves) if they do not have sealed bearings. Check all bolts and fasteners for tightness. Verify hydraulic fluid levels and condition.
