The Lab Verdict

Executive Summary

81

/100

The Verdict:

The Halo HL9K-PRO is the heavy-duty PRO build of Halo’s 9,000-lb four-post — thicker cables, a larger hydraulic cylinder, thicker base plates, a wrap-around cross-beam and a triple safety system, all backed by a 10-year warranty (versus 2 years on the standard). It still runs on a standard 110V outlet. If you’re storing or servicing regularly and want the sturdiest Halo four-post, this is it; the standard HL9K-ST costs less, and the HL9K-PROXL adds length.

  • Who Should Buy It:
  • Homeowners wanting to double their garage parking capacity
  • Car collectors who need to stack vehicles for storage
  • DIY enthusiasts who perform oil changes and basic maintenance
  • Anyone who wants the safest, easiest-to-use lift type
  • Owners of full-size trucks and SUVs
  • Who Should Skip It:
  • Users who need to do wheel-off suspension work (unless you buy bridge jacks)
  • Anyone without at least 4″ of cured concrete
  • Owners of extra-wide vehicles like Ford Raptors or duallys
  • ⚠️ Lab Note:
This unit requires a 220V/230V connection. Most homes do not have this outlet in the garage. You may need an electrician to install a dedicated circuit.

Engineering Analysis

The “Deep Dive”

Hydraulics & Rise Time

A 110V ETL-listed power unit drives the PRO’s larger hydraulic cylinder and thicker cables, raising both runways on the wrap-around cross-beam design.

Safety Lock System

A triple safety system with thicker base plates and multiple mechanical lock positions holds the runways on steel stops — backed by Halo’s 10-year PRO warranty.

Structural Integrity

Heavy-duty PRO four-post rated 9,000 lb with thicker cables, a larger cylinder, thicker base plates and a wrap-around cross-beam. 110V, 10-year warranty.

The "Squeeze" Factor

This is the most critical section for the HL9K-PRO.

DRIVE-THROUGH WIDTH 99.00"

Let's do the math on a real-world scenario: 2023 Chevrolet Corvette.

Corvette Width (Mirrors Out): ~84"
Clearance: 7.5" per side
The Result:

It fits comfortably with plenty of clearance on each side.

Fit & setup

Freestanding on flat concrete; confirm ceiling height for storage. Compare the range in our best 4-post lifts guide.

Year 1 Maintenance Schedule

Owning a lift is like owning a car. You can’t just install it and ignore it.

Weekly

Wipe down the inside of the columns. Dust mixed with grease turns into a grinding paste that wears out your slider blocks. Check for debris around the runways and base plates.

Monthly

Check Cable Tension. You will hear the locks “clicking” as the lift goes up. If one corner clicks later than the others, that cable is loose. Tighten the nut on top of that specific column to level it out. Inspect the safety locks for proper engagement.

Yearly

Inspect the hydraulic hoses for dry rot or cracks. Grease the pulleys (sheaves) if they do not have sealed bearings. Check all bolts and fasteners for tightness. Verify hydraulic fluid levels and condition.
