The Lab Verdict

Executive Summary

78

/100

The Verdict:

The BendPak HD-9EWT is the extra-wide, high-lift configuration of the HD-9 — wider runways to fit broader wheel tracks, with added overhead room over the standard HD-9. It keeps the 9,000 lb capacity and drive-on convenience of the family while giving wide vehicles more margin on the platforms. If you need side-by-side parking rather than a single wide bay, compare the dual-platform HD-9SW.

  • Who Should Buy It:
  • Homeowners wanting to double their garage parking capacity
  • Car collectors who need to stack vehicles for storage
  • DIY enthusiasts who perform oil changes and basic maintenance
  • Anyone who wants the safest, easiest-to-use lift type
  • Who Should Skip It:
  • Users who need to do wheel-off suspension work (unless you buy bridge jacks)
  • Anyone without at least 4″ of cured concrete
  • ⚠️ Lab Note:
This unit requires a 220V/230V connection. Most homes do not have this outlet in the garage. You may need an electrician to install a dedicated circuit.

Engineering Analysis

The “Deep Dive”

Hydraulics & Rise Time

A 220V single-phase power unit raises the extra-wide runways together to a high lift height, keeping both platforms level on equalized cables.

Safety Lock System

Multiple mechanical lock positions secure the wider runways at height on steel stops.

Structural Integrity

An extra-wide, high-lift take on the HD-9 — wider runways for broader wheel tracks with added lifting height, rated 9,000 lb, CE-certified and backed by the 5-2-1 warranty.

The "Squeeze" Factor

This is the most critical section for the 5175607.

DRIVE-THROUGH WIDTH 107.00"
CLEARANCE HEIGHT 77"

Let's do the math on a real-world scenario: 2023 Chevrolet Corvette.

Corvette Width (Mirrors Out): ~84"
Clearance: 11.5" per side
The Result:

It fits comfortably with plenty of clearance on each side.

Ceiling Math

To stack two cars, you need:

Car A Height + Car B Height + 10" (Runway + Clearance)

Example: 2020 Mustang (55") + 1969 Camaro (51") + 10" = 116 inches (9.6 feet)

If your ceiling is 9 feet (108"), you CANNOT stack these two cars with this lift. You would need a "Low Profile" modification or shorter cars.

Fit & setup

Freestanding on flat concrete; confirm the extra width fits your bay. Compare four-post options in our best 4-post lifts guide.

The Lab Take:

If this is for a commercial shop where liability is key, or if you are parking a $100k car underneath, buy the BendPak. The build quality and brand reputation justify the premium.

If you are storing a daily driver and budget is tight, the AMGO will get the job done, but expect some compromises on fit and finish.

Year 1 Maintenance Schedule

Owning a lift is like owning a car. You can’t just install it and ignore it.

Weekly

Wipe down the inside of the columns. Dust mixed with grease turns into a grinding paste that wears out your slider blocks. Check for debris around the runways and base plates.

Monthly

Check Cable Tension. You will hear the locks “clicking” as the lift goes up. If one corner clicks later than the others, that cable is loose. Tighten the nut on top of that specific column to level it out. Inspect the safety locks for proper engagement.

Yearly

Inspect the hydraulic hoses for dry rot or cracks. Grease the pulleys (sheaves) if they do not have sealed bearings. Check all bolts and fasteners for tightness. Verify hydraulic fluid levels and condition.
