The Lab Verdict

Executive Summary

77

/100

The Verdict:

The Triumph NSS-8XLT is an 8,000-lb extended-and-tall (XLT) four-post service-and-storage lift — the longer, taller build handles bigger vehicles and gives more overhead clearance underneath. Drive-on runways, no arms to set, and stable enough to store a vehicle on. Triumph is a solid DTC value in four-posts. Compare the full range in our best 4-post lifts guide.

  • Who Should Buy It:
  • Homeowners wanting to double their garage parking capacity
  • Car collectors who need to stack vehicles for storage
  • DIY enthusiasts who perform oil changes and basic maintenance
  • Anyone who wants the safest, easiest-to-use lift type
  • Who Should Skip It:
  • Users who need to do wheel-off suspension work (unless you buy bridge jacks)
  • Anyone without at least 4″ of cured concrete
  • Owners of extra-wide vehicles like Ford Raptors or duallys
  • ⚠️ Lab Note:
While 4-post lifts are free-standing, we recommend anchoring to the floor for maximum stability, especially in seismic zones.

Engineering Analysis

The “Deep Dive”

Hydraulics & Rise Time

An electric-hydraulic power unit raises both runways together on equalized cables.

Safety Lock System

Multiple mechanical lock positions hold the runways on steel stops at height for secure storage.

Structural Integrity

Extended-and-tall four-post storage-and-service lift rated 8,000 lb, with longer runways and added height for larger vehicles.

The "Squeeze" Factor

This is the most critical section for the NSS-8XLT.

DRIVE-THROUGH WIDTH 99.00"
CLEARANCE HEIGHT 79"

Let's do the math on a real-world scenario: 2023 Chevrolet Corvette.

Corvette Width (Mirrors Out): ~84"
Clearance: 7.5" per side
The Result:

It fits comfortably with plenty of clearance on each side.

Ceiling Math

To stack two cars, you need:

Car A Height + Car B Height + 10" (Runway + Clearance)

Example: 2020 Mustang (55") + 1969 Camaro (51") + 10" = 116 inches (9.6 feet)

If your ceiling is 9 feet (108"), you CANNOT stack these two cars with this lift. You would need a "Low Profile" modification or shorter cars.

Fit & setup

Freestanding on flat concrete; confirm the extended length and ceiling height. Compare in our best 4-post lifts guide.

The Lab Take:

The Triumph offers solid value and will handle most home garage needs. You will save $19,195.00 compared to the premium option.

If you want the peace of mind that comes with a name brand, better warranty support, and higher resale value, consider upgrading to the BendPak.

Year 1 Maintenance Schedule

Owning a lift is like owning a car. You can’t just install it and ignore it.

Weekly

Wipe down the inside of the columns. Dust mixed with grease turns into a grinding paste that wears out your slider blocks. Check for debris around the runways and base plates.

Monthly

Check Cable Tension. You will hear the locks “clicking” as the lift goes up. If one corner clicks later than the others, that cable is loose. Tighten the nut on top of that specific column to level it out. Inspect the safety locks for proper engagement.

Yearly

Inspect the hydraulic hoses for dry rot or cracks. Grease the pulleys (sheaves) if they do not have sealed bearings. Check all bolts and fasteners for tightness. Verify hydraulic fluid levels and condition.
