The Lab Verdict

Executive Summary

81

/100

The Verdict:

The Challenger CL10AV3-QC is the QuickCycle version — a faster 3HP power unit that cuts rise time for high-volume express bays in Challenger’s 10,000-lb Versymmetric® two-post line — ALI/ETL certified, with three width adjustments (110/116/122″) and two height settings at install, and directSPOT® 3-stage front and rear arms. It rises 74.125 inches on a 208–230V single-phase motor. Compare it with the standard CL10AV3 and dual-pendant DPC-QC.

  • Who Should Buy It:
  • Professional mechanics and shop owners
  • Serious DIYers who do suspension, brake, and exhaust work
  • Anyone who needs full undercarriage access
  • Users willing to drill anchor holes into concrete
  • Commercial shops servicing trucks and fleet vehicles
  • Who Should Skip It:
  • Anyone who cannot drill into their concrete floor
  • Users with concrete less than 4″ thick or with major cracks
  • People who want a simple, no-install solution
  • ⚠️ Lab Note:
This unit requires a 220V/230V connection. Most homes do not have this outlet in the garage. You may need an electrician to install a dedicated circuit.

Engineering Analysis

The “Deep Dive”

Hydraulics & Rise Time

A 208–230V single-phase power unit (2HP standard, 3HP on QuickCycle) drives the adjustable Versymmetric carriages; directSPOT arms speed up pad placement.

Safety Lock System

ALI/ETL certified to the ANSI safety standard, with automatic mechanical locks holding the vehicle on steel stops through the rise.

Structural Integrity

Adjustable Versymmetric two-post rated 10,000 lb, 74.125-inch rise, 11’2″–11’8″ overall (11’11” extended), inside width adjustable to 110 / 116 / 122 inches. ALI/ETL certified.

The "Squeeze" Factor

This is the most critical section for the CL10AV3-QC.

DRIVE-THROUGH WIDTH 12.00"
CLEARANCE HEIGHT 74"

Let's do the math on a real-world scenario: 2023 Chevrolet Corvette.

Corvette Width (Mirrors Out): ~84"
Clearance: -36.1" per side
The Result:

It does not fit. This vehicle is too wide for this lift.

Ceiling Math

To stack two cars, you need:

Car A Height + Car B Height + 10" (Runway + Clearance)

Example: 2020 Mustang (55") + 1969 Camaro (51") + 10" = 116 inches (9.6 feet)

If your ceiling is 9 feet (108"), you CANNOT stack these two cars with this lift. You would need a "Low Profile" modification or shorter cars.

A commercial install

These are tall shop lifts — confirm your ceiling against roughly 12 feet, and anchor into at least four inches of cured concrete. Professional installation is recommended. Compare in our best 2-post lifts guide.

Why pay $197.96 more for the Challenger?

The Lab Take:

If this is for a commercial shop where liability is key, or if you are parking a $100k car underneath, buy the Challenger. The build quality and brand reputation justify the premium.

If you are storing a daily driver and budget is tight, the Tuxedo will get the job done, but expect some compromises on fit and finish.

Year 1 Maintenance Schedule

Owning a lift is like owning a car. You can’t just install it and ignore it.

Weekly

Check the Arm Restraints. When the lift is raised, the gears on the arms should lock so they cannot swing. If they slip, adjust the spring tension immediately. Inspect lifting pads for wear.

Monthly

Check the Equalizer Cables. These are the thin cables running across the floor (or overhead). They sync the two carriages. They should be tight like a guitar string. Lubricate the carriage slides.

Yearly

Inspect the rubber lifting pads. If the metal is showing through the rubber, replace the pads. Metal-on-metal contact can slip. Check hydraulic hoses, seals, and anchor bolts. Verify column alignment.
