About Car Lift Lab
Car Lift Lab is an independent car lift comparison platform built by automotive equipment professionals. We compare verified manufacturer specifications across 600+ four-post, two-post, scissor, and single-post lift models from brands like BendPak, Atlas, Challenger, Triumph, Katool, and Ranger — so buyers can match the right lift to their garage, budget, and vehicles instead of guessing from a spec sheet.
Our Methodology — The Lab Verdict
Every lift we cover is scored with a Lab Verdict rating. Rather than a single opinion, the score is built from the measurable factors that decide whether a lift is right for you:
- Lifting capacity & safety certification — rated capacity versus real-world vehicle weights, plus third-party certification (ALI / ETL) where applicable.
- Build quality — steel gauge, column construction, carriage and arm design, and locking/safety systems.
- Fit & clearance — overall height, runway length, drive-thru width, and ceiling requirements, checked against common garage constraints.
- Value — capability and warranty relative to price, including total cost with shipping and installation.
- Installation difficulty — concrete and power requirements and the real effort to install safely.
Each score is derived from the same objective criteria applied to every lift, so models can be compared like-for-like instead of on marketing claims.
How We Verify Our Data
- We collect specifications directly from manufacturer documentation and verify them against published spec sheets.
- We normalize the data (capacity, dimensions, power, certification) so models can be compared on equal terms.
- We apply the Lab Verdict scoring above and write a plain-English verdict on who each lift is — and isn’t — for.
- We keep listings and pricing current, and revisit verdicts as models change.
Our database covers 600+ models with verified specs sourced from manufacturer documentation — the foundation every Lab Verdict score is built on.
Our Independence
Car Lift Lab is not owned by, operated by, or affiliated with any lift manufacturer. Our rankings are not for sale. Lab Verdict scores are based entirely on verified specifications and objective criteria — never on paid placement, advertising relationships, or affiliate payouts. When a lift earns a high score, it earned it on the data. That independence is the whole point of the Lab: a buyer should be able to trust that the best-scoring lift for their needs is genuinely the best fit, not the best sponsor.
Our Tools
We build the tools we wished existed when we were shopping for a lift:
- Fitment Checker — the only vehicle-to-lift fitment checker on the internet. Search by year, make, and model to see exactly which lifts fit your vehicle. It’s free, with no signup required. Try the Fitment Checker.
- Showdown comparisons — side-by-side breakdowns that put each lift against its closest competitor on capacity, clearance, build, and price.
Our Installer Network
Buying a lift is only half the job. Car Lift Lab maintains a directory of 250+ certified lift installers nationwide, searchable by state, so you can get your lift installed and anchored correctly. Find an installer near you.
