The Lab Verdict

Executive Summary

/100

The Verdict:

The Wildfire Lifts CLL-WSL-006 is a 10,000-lb capacity 4-post lift designed for home garage storage and light maintenance. 4-post lifts are the easiest to install and safest to operate, making them ideal for enthusiasts who want to maximize their garage space or store a second vehicle.

  • Who Should Buy It:
  • Homeowners wanting to double their garage parking capacity
  • Car collectors who need to stack vehicles for storage
  • DIY enthusiasts who perform oil changes and basic maintenance
  • Anyone who wants the safest, easiest-to-use lift type
  • Owners of full-size trucks and SUVs
  • Who Should Skip It:
  • Users who need to do wheel-off suspension work (unless you buy bridge jacks)
  • Anyone without at least 4″ of cured concrete
  • Owners of extra-wide vehicles like Ford Raptors or duallys
  • ⚠️ Lab Note:
While 4-post lifts are free-standing, we recommend anchoring to the floor for maximum stability, especially in seismic zones.

Engineering Analysis

The “Deep Dive”

Hydraulics & Rise Time

Equipped with a commercial-grade hydraulic cylinder concealed securely under the runway for maximum protection. The system features an integrated flow restrictor (velocity fuse) that ensures a smooth, controlled descent even in the unlikely event of a hose rupture. The electric-hydraulic power unit delivers consistent lifting power, achieving full rise in approximately 45–60 seconds depending on the weight load.

Safety Lock System

Features a redundant safety system designed for long-term storage. A spring-loaded, multi-position locking mechanism automatically engages at every ladder rung as the lift rises. Crucially, it includes a secondary Slack-Cable Safety System that acts as an emergency backup, instantly locking the runways in place if a cable were ever to go slack or fail. This dual-redundant design provides complete peace of mind.

Structural Integrity

Built to handle heavy-duty cycles, the frame is constructed from high-tensile, heavy-gauge steel. The entire structure is finished with a durable, weather-resistant powder coating that resists rust, chemicals, and chipping far better than standard paint. All cables, sheaves, and chains are rated to exceed the lift’s maximum capacity, ensuring a safety factor well above industry requirements.

The "Squeeze" Factor

This is the most critical section for the CLL-WSL-006.

Installation Reality: The Buddy System

Do Not Attempt Alone: The power-side runway on a 4-post lift contains the hydraulic cylinder and cables pre-installed. It weighs between 300-500 lbs. You cannot lift this alone. You need an engine hoist or a team of 3-4 people to move it off the truck.

Time Expectation: First-time installers usually take 6-8 hours.

Fluid: You will need approx. 3-4 gallons of AW-32 or AW-46 Hydraulic Fluid (Not included).

Anchoring: While 4-post lifts are technically “free-standing” and stable, we always recommend anchoring them to the floor for maximum stability, especially in seismic zones.

Year 1 Maintenance Schedule

Owning a lift is like owning a car. You can’t just install it and ignore it.

Weekly

Wipe down the inside of the columns. Dust mixed with grease turns into a grinding paste that wears out your slider blocks. Check for debris around the runways and base plates.

Monthly

Check Cable Tension. You will hear the locks “clicking” as the lift goes up. If one corner clicks later than the others, that cable is loose. Tighten the nut on top of that specific column to level it out. Inspect the safety locks for proper engagement.

Yearly

Inspect the hydraulic hoses for dry rot or cracks. Grease the pulleys (sheaves) if they do not have sealed bearings. Check all bolts and fasteners for tightness. Verify hydraulic fluid levels and condition.
